Akomi V3 Press Release

North Shore Automation (NSA) announces Akomi V3 DAM and Content Manager at NAB 2023!

North Shore Automation, a leading MAM workflow and software firm, today announced version 3 of their Akomi DAM solution.

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Based on years of MAM expertise and client feedback from some of the most innovative content companies in the world, Akomi allows users across an organization and/or across the globe to securely access curated media libraries. Modern containerized cloud or on-premise hosting options ensure flexibility for any need.

Akomi integrates with CatDV, Iconik, and other MAM solutions to give media teams automated publishing workflows that eliminate the labor of manual uploads and ensure rules-based metadata synchronization between the systems.

And of course, because it's NAB 2023, Akomi connects to AI transcription and other content analysis services. However, never content to simply check the box, North Shore has added to “down to the word” text and video search capability with Elasticsearch-based technology. Combined with the superior user experience that NSA is known for, this powerful indexing tech provides search and content discovery like never before to mid-sized, on-premise DAM customers.

Damien Corbell, who leads engineering for NSA says:  “Full-text search was always the dream for our customers with large archives and libraries. Now with Elastic/OpenSearch, users can instantly find the location of specific words and phrases inside a video.”

Also new for version 3 is a focus on servicing Graphics and Marketing departments, which often struggle to find solutions that integrate with their existing video solutions and IT infrastructure.

“We've seen graphics and creative services teams try to use video MAMs for years”, said NSA’s Bryson Jones. “While solving the problem of collecting artwork for OTT and VOD customers, we developed an automated workflow that doesn’t get in the way of creative work. We realized that adding improved image handling to Akomi would allow us to bring graphic and video production into the same infrastructure. Neither Marketing, Video, nor IT departments have to compromise.”

Deployment options include pre-built images (leveraging Docker) for VMware, AWS EC2, and other major systems. S3 Object storage is natively supported (AWS and Wasabi, with more in testing as of release), as well as the award-winning Lucidlink file system for multi-site and system.

The upgrade waiting list is open for existing Akomi customers. For more information on Akomi V3 please contact North Shore, your MAM reseller, or JB&A
